Inverness High School
About this Organisation
Inverness is located on the south shore of the Beauly Firth, in an area of outstanding scenic beauty. It offers opportunities for participation in a wide range of leisure pursuits. Being the largest settlement in the Highlands the town has a wide range of shops and services.
Inverness High School is a six year comprehensive school with a current roll of 540 pupils and 80 staff. The school is a wonderful ‘B’ listed building completed in 1937 in Art Deco style and is currently undergoing a multi-million pound refurbishment. It is set in the midst of its own extensive playing fields, on a site which is some ten minutes’ walk from the town centre. The school's technical department is one of the best-equipped in the Highlands and has an enviable reputation for innovation and achievement.
Although the school serves the largest single area of multiple deprivation in the Highlands, it also has a strong community spirit. The staff body is committed to the principles of social justice and fiercely loyal to the school and it's catchment area.
The school has won a number of national awards for innovative practice and is a targeted school under the Scottish Attainment Challenge. The current senior management team are very keen to continue with innovation and to encourage it in the staff of the school.
