Bilton Grange Preparatory School
About this Organisation
Bilton Grange Preparatory School is one of the foremost co-educational boarding and day preparatory schools in the country, given excellent ratings by ISI inspections over the last few years and highly regarded both locally, regionally and internationally as well as by the top English public schools. We have thriving Pre-Prep and Prep Departments with dedicated, well trained staff who ensure that these most important formative years of schooling are exciting and challenging, allowing children to reach their full potential and preparing them for the next stage of their school life.
Academic life
We build on the proven advantages of the traditional prep school curriculum – small class sizes, a broad range of subjects, and specialist teaching staff with innovative approaches to teaching and learning, using technology as appropriate, but also using our magnificent 90-acre site to the fullest extent to enhance our pupils’ education. We prepare children for 13+ entry into the country’s leading senior schools. In recent years pupils from Bilton Grange have gone on to many such schools, including Rugby, Eton, Harrow, Oundle, Uppingham, Oakham, Shrewsbury, Marlborough, Dulwich, Stowe and Bloxham. A slew of scholarships is the norm every year, whether academic or in music, drama, art, DT or sport: well over 35 in total over the last two years. Children are supported through the challenges of living, learning and growing with others by adults who value the happy and secure environment of a community based on Christian principles, encouraging courtesy and personal responsibility. We strive to provide an atmosphere in which children will be happy and develop with confidence. We are proud of our pupils’ accomplishments. Bilton Grange is nonselective and yet maintains the highest standards in every arena, all with a remarkable sense of relaxed informality.
The environment
The School offers unrivalled facilities, as well as our fully resourced classrooms, science laboratories and design technology workshop, Bilton Grange maintains a theatre, library, music school, sports hall, 25-metre indoor heated swimming pool, nine-hole golf course and shooting range, as well as sports fields, woods and landscaped gardens, all centred on our magnificent 19th-century Pugin mansion and its adjoining chapel. The latest addition to our facilities is a magnificent floodlit artificial hockey pitch situated within Pugin’s walled garden.
Boarding
The girls’ and boys’ boarding houses are at the heart of the School community. All children, boarding and day, benefit from the School’s comprehensive care systems and the dedicated staff it attracts. We offer full, weekly and flexible boarding, and day children are welcome to attend all meals.
