Backwell School is a large comprehensive school with over 1700 students.
The School Leadership Team (SLT) is made up of a Headteacher, two Deputy Headteachers, Five Assistant Headteachers, our SENDCo and the School Business Leader. The SLT are hardworking and dedicated to the school and they enjoy working together as a team.We are committed to providing a comprehensive education for all our young people and this ethos is summarised in the Backwell School Charter.
Backwell School became an academy in 2011 and joined the Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP) multi-academy trust in January 2018. The LSP currently consists of two other large secondary schools as well as many primary schools in the local area. To find out more please visit the LSP website.Backwell School is a national teaching school leading the North Somerset Teaching Alliance (NSTA) which allows this post holder to work collaboratively with colleagues at other schools as well as offering professional development and research opportunities.
Ofsted judged Backwell School to be 'Good' in all areas following an inspection, under the new framework, in January 2020. We are working towards being rated as Outstanding at our next inspection and look forward to welcoming a new colleague who can help and support us on this journey.
